Bill has not been paid. BCBS has also not reimbursed us for any care in 90 days. We’re about to go full hunger games for Zosyn and cefepime. How do I get this to have as much news coverage as a bunch of tik tok stars striking in Minnesota?
69M My dad is critically ill — the hospital keeps changing his diagnosis and refusing to document what’s actually happening. I don’t know what else to do. My dad has Addison’s disease, a rare autoimmune condition that makes him extremely vulnerable to stress and infection. He is considered malnouris
I’ve noticed that even if someone has anaphylaxis to penicillin, they will get a cephalosporin and be fine on it (cefepime for example because it has low cross reactivity?). Are 3rd and 4th generation a good alternative to suggest for anaphylaxis to penicillin? Or should I go with a carbapenem (I.e.
Patient put on IV Cefepime empirically 2/2 fever, congestion, leukocytosis. Tested positive for Influenza A. Pharmacist asked MD to dc antibiotics since...patient has the flu.. MD started Tamiflu and wants to keep IV cefepime to “prevent secondary pneumonia” -insert pikachu face-

You have a patient with confirmed C. Diff with symptoms and positive PCR. Precious chemo. Central line in place. ANC 400 Previous admission for kleb bacteremia. Pt is febrile and clinically stable. Team adds oral vanc, IV vanc and cefepime. Questions: 1. Cultures still arent back in 48 hours, pt st
Hello all of you lovely people! I'm just tossing this out there and need insight. In the world of cephalosporins, I know that Keflex and Rocephin are different gens. If a person's culture shows a resistance to cefazolin but was prescribed Keflex. Will the Keflex cover the organism? The organism is
People who work in hospitals: what do you do for those drugs that are sensitive to light in powder form but not in reconstituted form? I'm talking about cefepime and ceftriaxone, but if there are ones that I don't know about, please feel free to enlighten me. For instance, we keep our piggybacks cov

usually when a prescriber writes macrodantin 100 mg bid, i generally call them up and they're okay with changing it to macrobid 100 mg bid. but today i talked to a dr who pushed back a little bit (although still very polite and professional.) I said my usual spiel about how out of the 2, macrobid i
Tell me what would you do? The caveat is I told them we’re closing in 5 minutes and it’s not a good idea to call the Dr now (on the phone) ) to send it at our location and that there’s a 24 h pharmacy a block away. At 2 minutes she shows up and tells me Dr just sent it? And what if the line was long
Hey! My wife (F29) got a blister on the pinky finger a few days ago. Initially we both thought it was just a blister, but it has progressed quite significantly now to the point where we are unsure what it is. [Here is what the pinky finger looks like](https://imgur.com/a/NAzODn0) (note: it looks sli
So, I went to urgent care on Monday since I noticed a few things were happening. My first symptom was two swollen lymph nodes on the back left side of my neck. Then a general swelling started the day after, in that area. That evening I had pretty intense chills while going to bed and the next mornin

Can someone explain the point of this to me? Assuming you're treating cellulitis. Bactrim would cover both MRSA and MSSA...keflex would cover MSSA... So if you think there is a risk of MRSA why not just do Bactrim. Or, if you think MSSA why not just do Bactrim. Why do both? I did a quick uptoda
How long is a reasonable treatment duration for chronic osteomyelitis? I have a patient due to receive one year of cephalexin 500mg bid. Treatment guidelines say typical discharge oral antibiotic therapy is 8 weeks. I know the disease course can be relapsing, but do some people receive prophylaxis?
See relevant reddit post in a DarkNet sub [here](https://redd.it/3cp4vl). Basically, you can find cephalexin 500mg, amoxicillin 250mg, penicillin 500mg, etc. OTC in pet stores. I had no idea this was a thing. A couple Google searches for these products confirmed it. Obviously, I'm not going to reco
My favorite are the Cephalexin and Amoxicillin Suspensions because you just slap a label on them (and when you mix them it smells good). My least favorite is a tie between Warfarin and Spironolactone. I hate the scent of Spironolactone and hand counting Warfarin is a pain in my ass.
