Brand names: Lamotrigine, Lamictal
12.1 Mechanism of Action The precise mechanism(s) by which lamotrigine exerts its anticonvulsant action are unknown. In animal models designed to detect anticonvulsant activity, lamotrigine was effective in preventing seizure spread in the maximum electroshock (MES) and pentylenetetrazol (scMet) tests, and prevented seizures in the visually and electrically evoked after-discharge (EEAD) tests for antiepileptic activity. Lamotrigine also displayed inhibitory properties in the kindling model in rats both during kindling development and in the fully kindled state. The relevance of these models to human epilepsy, however, is not known. One proposed mechanism of action of lamotrigine, the relevance of which remains to be established in humans, involves an effect on sodium channels. In vitro pharmacological studies suggest that lamotrigine inhibits voltage-sensitive sodium channels, thereby stabilizing neuronal membranes and consequently modulating presynaptic transmitter release of excitato

I’m a writer. Maybe not a successful one at this point in my life, but it’s what I identify as. Writing has been such a big part of my life for as long as I can remember. Writing is one of the few things I am confident I can do, regardless of my mental state, and it has been my personal therapy for

I was recently diagnosed with bipolar 1 about a month ago and I’ve been taking 200mg of Lamotrigine and 45 mg of latuda. My family is very VERY religious and they want me to go to a special priest hoping that I get cured of being bipolar. I know doing this will not bring me any harm, but I generally
Recently i had to find a new psychiatrist because my insurance changed. I told him I’ve been on lithium and lamotrigine for several years and he told me that he used to work at an inpatient facility and he’d only ever used lithium with those patients and would wean them off after they left. He sugge
Ok so first things first, the medicine works great for me. My complaint is the pill itself. Whoever designed them is the spawn of fucking satan and deserves the most awful of punishments. It’s just compressed powder. It dissolves in water, which is what spit is. Like who the fuck approved this shit.
Called the pharmacy Thursday to refill my prescriptions as usual, knowing I had at least one refill left, which would have gotten me through til my psych gets back July 4th. Pharmacist said it would be ready by 9am today (Saturday) because they didn't have the right size pills for my lamotrigine and
